To change the Kibana password:

  1. SSH to the virtual host on which Health and Wellness (BETA) is deployed.
  2. Go to tools folder using the command:

    cd /usr/share/elasticsearch/plugins/opendistro_security/tools/

  3. Generate the hash for the new password using the following command:

    sh hash.sh -p <new password>

For example, sh hash.sh -p netwitness

  4. Copy the generated hash.
  5. Go to the securityconfig folder from /root/ using the command:

    cd /usr/share/elasticsearch/plugins/opendistro_security/securityconfig/

  6. Replace the hash under internal_users.yml file for Admin user with the generated hash that is obtained in step 4.

Note: Make sure you replace with the correct hash to log in to Kibana UI successfully.

  7. Save the file.
  8. Go to tools folder from /root/ using the command:

    cd /usr/share/elasticsearch/plugins/opendistro_security/tools/

  9. To update the security configuration changes to Elasticsearch, run the following command:

    sh securityadmin.sh -cd ../securityconfig/ -icl -nhnv -cacert /etc/elasticsearch/elasticsearch-trusts.pem -cert /etc/elasticsearch/elasticsearch-cert.pem -key /etc/elasticsearch/elasticsearch-key.pem

Note: After this is done, check if you can log in to Kibana using the username and new password.

  10. SSH to the Admin Server.
  11. Connect to metrics-server using nw-shell and enter the credentials.

    connect --service metrics-server

  12. Go to the password setting for Elasticsearch on metrics server using the command cd /rsa/metrics/elastic/password and set the same password that you set in step 6. For example, netwitness.
  13. Go to password setting for Kibana on metrics server using the command cd /rsa/metrics/kibana/password and set the same password that you set in step 6. For example, netwitness.
  14. Restart metrics-server using the command:

    service rsa-nw-metrics-server restart
