This document describes the permissions needed to use the RSA SecurID Authenticate and RSA SecurID Software Token apps.

RSA SecurID Authenticate for iOS Permissions

                                                

Permission

 

PurposeOptional or Required?
NotificationsDelivery of push notifications to phone. User is prompted to allow or deny this permission at the first use of app.

Optional

If permission denied, user must pull to refresh in the app to use the Approve and Biometrics authentication options.

CameraAllows QR code scan during registration using the RSA SecurID Authenticate app. User is prompted to allow or deny this permission at the first use of the scan QR code screen.

Optional

If permission denied, user must complete manual registration using a registration code.

Face ID or Touch IDAllows the app to use Biometrics for authentication and to view the RSA SecurID Authenticate Tokencode, if necessary. User is prompted to allow or deny this permission at the first use of Biometrics.

Optional

If permission denied, user cannot use Biometrics for authentication.

Collect usage data

Note: This is an RSA SecurID Authenticate permission request, not an iOS permission.

Allows the app to collect data analytics. This includes only usage data and excludes personal data related to the user or device. User is prompted to allow or deny this permission at the first use of app.

Optional

If permission denied, the app does not collect data analytics.

Siri & Search

Note: Default iOS permission that is not needed to use the Authenticate app.

Allows the app to display when user searches manually or with Siri.

Optional

Background App Refresh

Note: Default iOS permission that is not needed to use the Authenticate app.

Optimizes the app user experience.Optional

Cellular Data

Note: Default iOS permission that is not needed to use the Authenticate app.

Allows the app to receive notifications for Approve and Biometrics authentication options.Optional

 

RSA SecurID Authenticate for Android Permissions

A user can allow or deny the optional permissions in Android Settings > Apps > Authenticate.

Required one time when upgrading app from older versions.

Storage

Allows access to the device SD card for creating logs used for troubleshooting.

If permission denied, app does not create logs used for troubleshooting.

Camera

Allows QR code scan during registration using the RSA SecurID Authenticate app.

Optional

If permission denied, user must complete registration using a registration code.

Receive data from internet

Allows Internet access.

Required*

Have full network access

Allows the app to determine if Internet access is available.

Permission not visible to user.

View network connections

View Wi-Fi connections

Obtains an ID to uniquely identify the device.

Use fingerprint hardware

Allows access to the fingerprint reader on the device for the Biometrics authentication option.

Allows access to some Samsung fingerprint readers for the Biometrics authentication option.

Prevent phone from sleeping

Prevents the device from sleeping while the app is running.

Allows the app to run after the system finishes booting so it can provide notifications to the user outside of the app.

Allows the app to use Bluetooth.

Play Install Referrer API

Note: Default Android permission that is not needed to use the Authenticate app.

Allows the app to use analytics to track how users are finding the app page on Google Play. Required*

* The Android operating system does not consider this a sensitive permission and so does not provide a way for users to revoke it.

 

RSA SecurID Software Token for iOS Permissions

Optional

If permission denied, user must complete token import using custom URL links, copy and paste of links, or SDTID file attachments.

Mask PIN

Note: This is an RSA SecurID Token permission request, not an iOS permission.

Replaces each PIN digit with a dot after user enters it. User is not prompted for this permission but can deny it in iOS Settings > Token.

Optional

If permission denied, app displays PIN digits.

Siri & Search

Note: Default iOS permission that is not needed to use the Token app.

Allows the app to display when user searches manually or with Siri.

Optional

 

RSA SecurID Software Token for Android Permissions

A user can allow or deny the optional permissions in Android Settings > Apps > Authenticate.
