IssueThe customer would like to change hostname in RSA NetWitness Platform 11.x.
ResolutionFrom 11.3.x above, follow these steps to change hostname.

Before changing hostname in OS/GUI level, you need to update /sys/config/service.name.override first in NW GUI > ADMIN > Services > {Your Service} > explore.
Let us say if you want to change hostname from "Host-A" to "Host-B".
In this case, you need to update /sys/config/service.name.override as Host-A.
This step will prevent re-index operation from taking place after changing hostname in concentrator service.
  1. OS level

# hostnamectl set-hostname <new hostname>
# cat /etc/hosts
# cat /etc/hostname

  1. GUI level

  • NW GUI > ADMIN > Hosts, edit <new hostname> and save
  • NW GUI > ADMIN > Services, edit <new hostname> and save
Note) Once you successfully changed hostname, you need to reconfigure the connection to concentrator service in ESA and Report Engine side.

If you are unsure of any of the steps above or experience any issues, contact RSA Support and quote this article number for further assistance.
