Product/Service Type: Archer (On-Premise)/Archer SaaS/Hosted
Version/Condition: 6.5, 6.6, 6.7, 6.8, 6.9
Platform: Windows Server 2012 R2/ Windows Server 2016/Windows Server 2019
Component: Notification
IssueSituations, where you may need to update the 'From Address' and 'From Alias' in the notification templates for the Subscription, XML, Scheduled Report Distribution, and Data Driven Event (DDE) Notification, include:
  • Customer has over 100+ notification templates, and they have decided to update the 'From Address' and 'From Alias' for the existing notification templates.
  • Customers have decided to update the 'From Address' and 'From Alias' for the newly created notification templates.
TasksThe purpose of this article is to explain how to update/change the 'From Address' and 'From Alias' in the notification templates.
Two workarounds will be explored in this article.
Resolution
  1. Workaround 1: This workaround can be used if you have decided to change the 'From Address' and 'From Alias' for the newly created notification templates and existing notification templates (out of box notifications and those ones which you will create manually). To perform this you can change the location of Default "From Address" and "From Alias" under the Global Notification Settings:
    1. Login to Archer UI > Administration > Notifications > Global Notification Settings
    2.  Change the "From Address" and "From Alias"
    3. Click Save

Note: For the workaround 1, one thing you will need to aware is for the existing notification templates which are in used (out of box notifications and those ones which you
created them manually previously) the update will not take place for those notification templates that are in used. It will only work after updating the 'From Address'
and 'From Alias' in the notification templates then use those notification templates.

  1. Workaround 2: This workaround can be used for the existing notification templates which are in use (out-of-box notifications and those ones which you created manually previously). In the Database, the table tblNotificationTemplate contains template information such as Notification Template ID, Template Name, Template description, From Address, From Alias….etc.

  1. Below SQL query can be used to find out the Notification Template ID, Notification Template Name, From Address, From Alias for the Subscription, XML, and Scheduled Report Distribution Notification:

select * from tblNotificationTemplate

  1. Below SQL queries can be used to find out the Notification Template ID for the Data Driven Event (DDE) Notification. Run the sql query is used to identify the Notification Template ID.

Select N.template_name, N.notification_template_id from tblNotificationTemplate N join (Select T.notification_template_id from tblEventNotificationAction
E join tblNotificationTemplate T on E.notification_template_id = T.notification_template_id group by T.notification_template_id) X on N.notification_template_id= X.notification_template_id

  1. To find out what email addresses ‘From Address’ and Alias ‘From Alias’ are used run the following SQL query [replace the xxx with the output of step 2.b].

select * from tblNotificationTemplate where notification_template_id =xxx

  1. Once you identify the Notification Template ID, Notification Template Name from step 2.a or 2.b, then replace the xxx by running the following SQL update command to update the "From Address" and "From Alias".

update tblNotificationTemplate
set
from_address = 'ChangeToYourAddress@abc.com',
from_alias = 'ChangeToYourAlia'
where notification_template_id=xxx

Here are 2 examples:
  1. Example 1: Customer has DDE notification, and he wants to update the 'From Address' from 'no_reply6@rsa.com' to 'no_reply6@rsa.com' and 'From Alias' from "RSA Admin 6' to 'RSA Admin 7'.

  1. Login to Archer UI > Administration > Application Builder > Applications > go to the application > Layout > Actions > check Delivery tab.
