RSA ARCHER 2018 SUMMIT – A LOOK BACK & A LOOK FORWARD

What can we say – the 15th RSA Archer Summit was the largest gathering yet with over 1200 customers and partners in attendance, 6 Working Groups where all available seats were taken weeks before the event, 5 Keynotes, 55 learning sessions where customers shared their use cases, and as expected, again one of the best networking opportunities for our customers. We hope you agree!

If you were unable to attend, you can still participate ‘virtually’ through the Community-posted Summit presentations, listen to the RSA Archer Summit Kickoff Keynote Address from RSA president Rohit Ghai, RSA Archer’s Steve Schlarman’s closing Keynote, ‘A Theoretical Riskicist’s Guide to the Universe’, and even enjoy an entertaining opening musical number from the nationally-known group, The Water Coolers.

You may also wish to read two blogs from Steve Schlarman, the ‘RSA Archer 2018 Event Kickoff’, and the ‘RSA Archer Summit Retrospectivefor more information about the announced Archer mobile strategy which was music to the ears of those in attendance and was met with very loud applause.

Additionally, there were two media blogs posted to RSA Archer Suite following the opening Keynotes from Rohit Ghai and David Walter. ‘The Evolution of RSA Archer,’ and ‘Mobility Announcements at RSA Archer Summit.’

One of the highlights of the 2 ½ day event was of course the RSA Archer Summit Awards. This year’s recipients included Community Advocate Award winner Karl Bender of Citizens Bank, Global Alliance Partner EY, and 9 Excellence winners: Discover Financial Services, Highmark Health, Mitre, VOYA, Microsoft, Marathon Petroleum Corporation, NASA, HSBC Europe, and Rio Tinto. Rio Tinto’s Matthew Hancock also won this year’s ‘Best in Show’ Award.

Congratulations to all winners and also to a very impressive list of Runners-Up. To learn more and view photos, see ‘RSA Archer Award Winner Recap.’

RSA ARCHER CYBER RISK QUANTIFICATION DEMONSTRAION VIDEO UPDATED

What is RSA Archer Cyber Risk Quantification? RSA Archer Cyber Risk Quantification quantifies an organization’s financial risk exposure to cybersecurity events. The Cyber Risk Quantification use case helps CISOs (Chief Information Security Officers) to prioritize risk mitigation efforts based on business and financial impact, and to communicate the impact of cyber risk in financial terms to senior management and the board. Armed with this financial data, organizations can now make more informed decisions regarding their risk and security investments.

RSA Archer Cyber Risk Quantification utilizes a purpose-built platform that leverages the Factor Analysis of Information Risk (FAIR) methodology, the de facto standard for quantitative risk management for IT and cybersecurity risk management. The updated demonstration video showcases a set of modular applications to help organizations get started quickly quantifying cyber risk in financial terms, including mathematical simulations to build a risk profile with limited data. See for yourself how RSA Archer Cyber Risk Quantification utilizes a built-in risk calibration and analysis engine, and a templated user interface and workflows providing a user-friendly process for risk data collection and quantification. On-demand risk analytics provide answers to questions on the fly, eliminating the need to create time-consuming and outdated reports.

The RSA Archer SE team is pleased to share the updated  RSA Cyber Risk Quantification Demonstration Video.

WEBINAR – MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

SEPTEMBER 18

@ 1:00 pm ET

Presenter:

Marshall Toburen, GRC Strategist

RSA Archer Ignition Program for Data Privacy

With new regulations like the EU GDPR, the California Privacy Law and the commonplace news of yet another company’s information systems breach – the world seems to be hyper-focused on privacy. Information security teams are bombarded with work and struggle to find adequate human and capital resources to fulfill their privacy-related obligations. Without a sustainable data privacy program, increasing obligations coupled with inadequate resources can mean impending disaster.

In this webinar, we will explore the privacy challenges and obligations that organizations face and discuss proven methods to quickly get your data privacy program off the ground. You will learn:

Key elements to start a data privacy program

Common threats to privacy programs

Things to watch out for to ensure the success of your privacy program

Considerations to mature your privacy program over time

RSA Public Sector Risk Management

Risk management within the public sector is challenging.  Organizational risks come in many forms:  privacy, cyber-attacks, environment, supply chain, employee health and welfare, fraud, litigations, resiliency and large projects are just a few examples.

Risk affects all organizations, including Operations, Information Technology, Human Resources, Transportation, Tax and Revenue.  Risks impact not only the department but may also affect the entire government organization.

Successful risk management requires understanding and who and what is impacted and how to best implement.

Risk management works when agency governance is well understood and when government executives and their staffs are fully versed in defined policies, procedures, laws, regulations and best practices. Governance, risk and compliance together constitute an important public sector function for ensuring continuity of operations, cybersecurity, sound financial control, and ultimately high-performance mission delivery.

RSA would like to invite you to a lunch seminar where we will explore the challenges and opportunities surrounding governance, risk and compliance in the public sector.

During this seminar for government organizations, we will:

·       Define the terms -- governance, risk, compliance -- in the a government context

·

·       Identify key risks government organizations need to be aware of and plan for

·

·       Focus on risk management and how government agencies approach defining, prioritizing and putting in place best practices and framework to mitigate risk

·

·       Discuss how you determine which risks are confined to specific bureaus or agencies and which constitute enterprise-level risks

·

·       Explore best practices for mitigating risks in key areas such as cybersecurity, identity, privacy and resiliency.

·       Discuss what other state & local governments have done to address risk challenges.

We hope you can join us!

RSA LINK: RSA IDEAS FOR RSA ARCHER – NOT JUST A POPULARITY CONTEST

Before relaunching Ideas on the RSA Link Community, a RSA cross-product team met weekly for over a year to address many of the issues that were present with the first iteration of the Idea Exchange.

Top of the list, was to make sure that ideas submitted were on a more level playing field, and that no one large company had a vote advantage over those companies with smaller teams resulting in fewer votes.

With the relaunch of Ideas in October 2017, each idea ‘Voted Up’ receives 5 points, and no one can vote more than once on any one idea. This is similar to how votes were calculated on the earlier version of the Idea Exchange.

What did change with the relaunch is that now ‘each unique organization’ receives only one vote in this field, no matter how many team members vote an idea up. Simply put, if Company A has a team of 25 Archer users and each one votes an idea up, this would garner 125 Votes ‘but only one vote in the unique organization’ column would be counted.

We are now realizing that this is not as clear as it should be on the homepage of Ideas and we are working to see how we can make this callout more visible, though it is included in the FAQs.

We are limited by the Jive platform as to some of the updates we’d like to do, but are looking at adding filters, etc. to make it easier to see which ideas are really the true leaders.

Be assured, the RSA Archer triage team, consisting of employees from across the business units, continue to review ideas on a biweekly basis, looking at which ones can move into a different stage, and yes, which ideas are garnering the most benefit for the largest number of unique organizations.

Our goal since relaunch is to deliver a better experience for our customers.

We wanted to improve the way we handled the enhancement requests from our method on the previous Community Idea Exchange. We wanted to be more transparent and allow more visibility into the stages for enhancement requests.

We realize we can still do better and you will start to see some enhancements that will allow you to have better insight as to the ideas that are truly leading, both in votes and unique organizations. Please be patient with us, but know we are looking into making the experience better for each of you.

Remember, it is not only votes that get our attention, it is also the number of unique organizations who will benefit from the suggested idea.
