IssueHow to remove the RSA ECAT client from a system.
Resolution

It may become necessary to remove a ECAT client from a users system.  In order to manually uninstall an RSA ECAT Agent from a PC, follow the steps below.


 


RSA ECAT 3.5 Clients


Open the command prompt, running it as Administrator, and issue the following command:  msiexec /x {63AC4523-5F19-42F0-BC43-97C8B5373589}


 


RSA ECAT 3.4 Clients and Earlier


Open the command prompt, running it as Administrator, and issue the following commands, replacing <EcatService> and <EcatServiceDriver> with the appropriate names:


  1. net stop <EcatService>
  2. net stop <EcatServiceDriver>
  3. sc delete <EcatService>
  4. sc delete <EcatServiceDriver>
  5. del \Windows\system32\<EcatService>.exe
  6. del \Windows\system32\drivers\<EcatService>.sys

Notes

Note it is also possible to use the Microsoft Tool msizap.exe to remove an Agent.

An example of use would be msizap.exe T {63AC4523-5F19-42F0-BC43-97C8B5373589}


msizap.exe was found to be useful when part of the ECAT driver had been manually removed.
