IssueHow to download a backup off of the Appliance V3
Backups on the Appliance V3 are done on the Operations Console. If saved to the local hard disk, it is possible to copy the backup off of the Appliance in case of catastrophic failure.
Resolution

To perform the following, SSH connectivity must be enabled on the Primary.

In the Operations Console, go to Administration->Networking->Configure Connectivity using SSH

Check the box entitled "Enable SSH"

If the Operations Console is not available, a keyboard and monitor must be attached to the appliance.

Log in as 'emcsrv' using the OS password configured during Quick Setup

sudo su - root

Enter the password when prompted

***NOTE***: In the following command ?service? is not a directory, it is the command

/sbin/service sshd start        // you should see: Starting sshd  [  OK  ]

An SFTP client can now be used to get the required backups.

If using Filezilla, set up a site as SFTP, use emcsrv as your login.

If using WinSCP, simply enter emcsrv as the login

Open a connection to the Appliance. Change directory to:

  /var/cap/backups

and download the desired backup.
