How to apply Security Analytics product licenses.
Resolution

This procedure is to be used to apply Security Analytics product licenses to a new Security Analytics server.  In order to perform the procedure, you will need to have received an email from OSD Admin with software license serial numbers for the entitlements from RSA.  You will also need to have received an email from RSA with access to Download Central.

Be advised that the Security Analytics architecture relies heavily on the NTP and DNS services.  It is important that these two services are properly configured and functioning on the Security Analytics server.

Security Analytics Server Entitlement

This will allow the Security Analytics (SA) server to be licensed and entitled with add-ons.

  1. Login to the SA Server and obtain the License Server ID.

    1. Click on the dropdown and select Administration -> System.
    2. Copy the License Server ID.
  2. Login to Download Central (DLC).
  3. In DLC, enter the RSA Product License Number, which will be in an email received from RSA.  If you have not received your Product License Number, contact RSA Support.
  4. In DLC, click on Create a Server.  Proceed to create a server using the above License Server ID.  Provide a description under Alias.
  5. Once the server has been created, map the add-ons to the newly created server.
  6. You are now ready to entitle the Security Analytics server.

    1. Ensure that the NTPD service is setup correctly.  Refer to KB article How to configure NTP on an RSA Netwitness appliance for assistance.
    2. Ensure that the DNS service is setup correctly.  Refer to the online documentation entitled Synchronize Security Analytics Server for assistance.

ONLINE Entitlement

If your SA Server has access to the Internet and DNS has been configured, simply click on the dropdown menu in the Security Analytics UI and click on Administration -> System, and then click on Licensing.

OFFLINE Entitlement

Follow the steps below for the offline entitlement process.

  1. From DLC, perform a Download Capacity Response, which will produce a response.bin file.
  2. In the Security Analytics UI, click on the dropdown menu and select Administration -> System, and then click on Licensing.
  3. Click on the Offline tab.
  4. Click on the Upload button under Step 2:  Upload Offline Response and browse to the response.bin file downloaded in Step 1.

Confirm Your Entitlement

Follow the steps below to confirm that the entitlement process was successful.

  1. In the Security Analytics UI, click on the dropdown menu and select Administration -> System.
  2. Click on Licensing and then on the Entitlements tab.  The product entitlements should be reflected in this tab.

If you are unsure about any of the steps above or experience any issues, contact RSA Support and quote this article ID.
