RSA Version/Condition: 7.1 P6
Product Name: Oracle RAC
Product Description: active/active mode
IssueClarify steps needed to change to an Oracle RAC active/active configuration at the same time or after upgrade to AAOP 7.1 P6.

ResolutionIf you are already running Oracle RAC in active/active mode, prior to upgrading to AAOP 7.1 P6, then you will need to run the steps outlined in the Release Notes. You would have already completed the steps in the Installation & Upgrade Guide Appendix B with a previous release.  Please see the following from the Release Notes for v7.1 P6:

Execute RAC partitioning statements. On Oracle database with an active/active RAC deployment only, the
patch removes the partitioning from the SESSIONACSP, RSASESSION, and RSATRANSACTION tables.
Execute the following RAC partitioning statements if the RAC deployment mode is active/active:

PREPARE_PLAN('RSASESSION');
PREPARE_PLAN('RSATRANSACTION');
PREPARE_PLAN('SESSIONACSP');

RUN_PLAN('RSASESSION');
RUN_PLAN('RSATRANSACTION');
RUN_PLAN('SESSIONACSP');

New installations of AAOP or installations just switching to active/active mode only need to follow the instructions in Appendix B of the Installation and Upgrade Guide. The scripts should be obtained from the latest install <rsa root directory>/utils_7.1.0.6.0/db-common-oracle-RAC-support.zip archive file. Do NOT run the Release Notes steps since the scripts in the Guide already have them incorporated. It is normally suggested to first do the install or upgrade and get the system working cleanly before switching to active/active and then run the scripts from Appendix B.
