IssueIt is useful to be able to monitor Oracle tablespace size and usage.
This is one of many scripts available to do this.

ResolutionRefer to KB-1301 How to resolve ORA-30036, UNDO Tablespace error to extend the UNDO tablespace but that is a reactive measure that happens after you receive the:

ORA-30036: unable to extend segment error

But to monitor and proactively report on the UNDO space before the operation fails the attached script can be used through cron to monitor and email when the tablespace reaches a pre-determined level.
Review the comments in the script itself before using
The attached script is used to monitor 3 critical Oracle items UNDDO and TEMP tablespaces and ASM disk size. The script can be scheduled via cron and can also send email notifications of the tablespace usage.  It  writes to a log file if any of the three items reaches their configured limits.
It should be run as the Linux oracle user, not as root.
.

NotesThis script is not an official part of the ACM nor IMG application and is provided for use as is.
