For version 3.6.0 and above use these instructions:

To check if the daemon is running:

  • Log in to the appliance via a terminal session
  • Run the command

ps -ef | grep vsftpd | grep -v grep

If running it will return this string:

root 23233 10 16:17 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/vsftpd /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf

You should be able to connect to the appliance with an FTP client. If not running the command above will return nothing (you will see the command prompt)

To start the ftp server run this command:

service vsftpd start - If logged in as root

sudo service vsftpd start - if logged in as oracle

The start command should show this output

Starting vsftpd for vsftpd: [ OK ]

If it does not show OK, please contact Aveksa support.

To ensure ftp is enabled to autostart on reboot run this command as root

chkconfig --levels 2345 vsftpd on
