The Oracle Enterprise manager (OEM) is used to manage and troubleshoot the Oracle instance on the Aveksa appliance. It's a troubleshooting tool that can be used by service personnel.

Oracle Enterprise manager is typically accessed on port 1158 using the URL: https://<machine>:1158/em

1. To verify that the OEM is running use the following command from a terminal session:
ps -ef | grep emagent
If the OEM is running you will see output similar to:
/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/bin/emagent
If OEM is not running try starting it (as the oracle user) with the command:
emctl start dbconsole
or you can reconfigure it with this command:
emca -config dbcontrol db

2. If the OEM still does not run check that port 1158 isopen

  • Redhat check /etc/sysconfig/iptables
  • SuSE Check with netstat -ltn

3. If both #1 & #2 are correct and the OEM says it's running try stopping and restarting it
if that fails try reconfiguring it.
4. If #3 fails it may be a network issue where network internal firewall is not allowing data on that port
check with the IT department on the availability of the port in the internal network.

5. The OEM could be running on one of 2 URLs:

http://<machine>:1158/em/

https://<machine>:1158/em/

Use the following command to check:

emctl status dbconsole
