Overview of Steps

Use these steps to determine the manufacturer, model and serial number of an RSA NetWitness or RSA Security Analytics appliance running CentOS 5.x of CentOS 6.x. 

1.       Open an ssh session to your appliance.

2.       Logon as root.

3.       Use the dmidecode command to query the system for the required information.   

 

Detailed Steps

1.       Open an ssh session to your appliance.

2.       Logon as root.

3.       Run either of the following dmidecode commands from the system prompt:

root@SA-Server-01 ~]# dmidecode --type system {enter}

root@SA-Server-01 ~]# dmidecode -t system {enter}

4.       Review the output for the required information.  See the examples below. 

 

Sample output from a Dell R510 , R610 and R620 appliance should like like the following:

 

# dmidecode 2.11
SMBIOS 2.6 present.

Handle 0x0100, DMI type 1, 27 bytes

        Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
