IssueCreating a valid appliance sitename
Cannot access web server or web gui via DNS
ResolutionThe components of valid sitename

- 11 characters or less
- The first character should be an uppercase alphabetic character
- The characters should be alphanumeric or the hyphen character
- There should be no special or accented characters

Causes

The NetBIOS name of a windows client must be 15 characters or less (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909264). As part of the envision typing, a node will be appended with the node suffix e.g. "-as1" which is why the sitename must be 11 characters or less. RFC 1912 specifies valid characters for a DNS domain name, the first character limitation is historically as a result of older implementations that were designed against the preceding DNS RFC 1035.
