IssueCustomer unable to login from Self Service Console or Security Console due to an Authentication Error

Authentication Manager server logfiles contained within c:\program files\RSA Security\RSA Authentication Manager\Server\logs\  show the following text


 Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException


at java.util.Calendar.setTime(Calendar.java:1032)


at com.rsa.ims.authn.impl.policy.PasswordPolicyLifetimeRequirement.isPasswordChangeRequired(PasswordPolicyLifetimeRequirement.java:118)


 

When trying to login to Self Service Console the following error appears:


- Error:  Sorry, your request cannot be processed at this time. 


- Authentication Error:   An error has occured during authentication.  Please contact your Administrator

Cause

The above error is caused by the LDAP directory server user object's password being changed due to a Periodic Password Expiration policy. 

ResolutionTo be able to login to Self Service Console, ensure your Active Directory LDAP has the 'Require Periodic Password Policy' set to NO/disabled.
