IssueAM 7.1 (all platforms): how to install a license upgrade on AM7.1
Resolution

The following is an extract from the online "Help" topic in the security console.

Before installing a license update, consider all of the consequences carefully. For example, the license must allow enough users to use the system. Also keep in mind:

  • You can install multiple licenses, the features and active-user counts 'stack'.
  • The Account ID (or serial number) must be the same for all licenses.
  • The License ID must be unique for each license. You cannot install the same license twice.
  • Different product licenses enable different functionality. Your documentation might include instructions for functions that your license does not permit.

Important: Only the Super Admin can perform license-related tasks.

Note: To upgrade a license, add the upgrade license as a new license. Any new features take effect immediately and any increases to the license limits are added to the current limits.

To install a new license update:

  1. Log onto the Security Console with a SuperAdmin account
  2. Click Setup > Licenses > Add New.
  3. Browse to the .xml license file that you want to install, and select it.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Install.

Note: After installing a new license that adds features, you must log off the Security Console and then log on again before the system menus can display the newly licensed features.

NotesIf you are upgrading the license on an RSA Appliance, the process is slightly different. The licenses will always be contained in a .zip, and will include all previous license files in addition to certificates and other critical data for the license itself.
Incorrect - Open the appliance license upgrade zipfile, and when prompted for the filename, point to the .zip filename
correct - Extract the zipfile to a set of files. When prompted for the file, browse to the individual .xml file with teh proper license information
It is always prudent to make a backup before you perform a license upgrade.
