RSA SecurID Software Token not available
SDTID file is present in email attachment on BlackBerry
Trying to load software token for Blackberry keeps prompting for passphrase
Java Error: "uncaught exception - string index out of range 1024" when importing the issued RSA SecurID Software Token seed file
Resolution

There are 2 items to verify here:
1. The email must be received on the BlackBerry after the RSA SecurID Software Token application is installed. See the RSA SecurID Software Token for BlackBerry Quick Start Guide, page 1, item 4 for steps on application install.
2. The SDTID file has a very specific syntax as per the RSA SecurID Software Token for BlackBerry Administrator's Guide, page 3. If the file does not have "x-rimdevice" prepended to it's name, e.g. x-rimdeviceJayG.sdtid, the you will get the Java Error: "uncaught exception - string index out of range 1024" when importing into a Blackberry.
Managing Software Tokens
You issue Software Tokens from RSA ACE/Server and distribute token distribution files to users. Software Tokens can be either SDTID or XML files.
For details see the administration guide for your server version as follows.

RSA Authentication Manager 7.1 Administrator?s Guide Distributing Software Tokens to Users. Page 81
Distribution Methods:
? To distribute one or more software tokens at a time,
use the
Distribute Software Tokens Job option in the Authentication > SecurID Tokens menu. From there, select Add New > Issue Software Token Files.
? You can distribute software tokens individually from the Edit Tokens page. Click Save and Distribute to follow the process.

All token distribution files emailed, must have the string 'x-rimdevice' prepended to the token name, with the file extension .sdtid. For example, you can name a token distribution file 'x-rimdevice-token1.sdtid' or 'x-rimdevicetoken1.sdtid'.

The Blackberries can behave differently, some, like the Curve, have embedded RSA software that has not been updated by the manufacturers in a long time, so depending on your model and provider if you get any errors with Blackberry and RSA soft token, you might have to do a couple of the following quick fixes;

  1. Uninstall the RSA software through Desktop Manager if when you use Desktop Manager - Application Loader, and check the [details], you see ?SecurIDLib? listed.  There should only be ?SecurID?  .cod files listed
  2. install the RSA 2.1.1 software token software on the Blackberry
  3. If RSA 2.1.1 won?t install, then upgrade the Blackberry Device OS v.4.2.x, see below for links to get this
  4. If this still does not work, upgrade the version of Desktop Manager on your Windows PC and try installing 2.1.1 again
  5. Worst case scenario, get the absolute latest Device.xml file from RIM for your Blackberry model

The same software tokens run on Windows PC, smart mobile phones, and Blackberrys, but each device has different software token software to make it work.

If you are using the BES for push, you have to be at least at ver. 4.0.1, and your Blackberry OS must be at least 4.0 too.  If you use the Desktop, then you need at least Blackberry Desktop Software ver. 3.6 on your PC and Blackberry OS ver. 3.7 on the Blackberry.
