The Master Password protects other sensitive credentials and is used with many of the Authentication Manager command line utilities.  During installation the master password is set to be the same value as the initial administrator password which is entered during when you run the installation.

To change your master password you must run three commands as shown below:

1)  From a command prompt, change to <RSA_AM_HOME>\utils

Type:

   rsautil manage-secrets -m <old master password> -a change -n <new master password>

The system displays the message 'Master password changed successfully'.

2)  From a command prompt, change to <RSA_AM_HOME>\radiusoc\utils  (NOTE:  This only exists on systems where RADIUS may be installed so is not present on Windows x64)

Type:

   rsautil manage-secrets -m <old master password> -a change -n <new master password>

The system displays the message 'Master password changed successfully'.

3)  From a command prompt, change to <RSA_AM_HOME>\config

Type:

   configUtil configure util-config updateAdmin -R master.password=<new master password> -R superadmin.username=<superadmin_user_id> -R superadmin.password=<superadmin_password>

The system displays about 20 lines of output as it is running and finishes with the message 'Configuration complete' and "Exiting..."

To make sure your new master password is backed up, copy systemfields.properties to a secure location.

Note:  The rsautil command may be used in two ways where the parameters are supplied on the command line (and may be seen by someone looking over your shoulder or interactively where the values are masked on screen.  In our example below, our admin password was Securid123!.  To change the master password to Master123!

C:\Program Files\RSA Security\RSA Authentication Manager\utils> rsautil manage-secrets -m Securid123! -a change -n Master123!

Master password changed successfully.

C:\Program Files\RSA Security\RSA Authentication Manager\utils >

You may also do this interactively, for example:

C:\Program Files\RSA Security\RSA Authentication Manager\utils> rsautil manage-secrets -a change

Enter Master password: **********

Enter New master password: *********

Confirm New master password: *********

Master password changed successfully.

C:\Program Files\RSA Security\RSA Authentication Manager\utils >
