Windows Event Viewer
|Issue||RSA Authentication Manager 7.1 on Windows: Event log throwing Event ID 34 every minute (possibly several times a minute depending on the system)|
Windows event log recursively throwing Event ID 34 from: Source: Oracle.hdlin02u
LENGTH : '140' ACTION : 'CONNECT' DATABASE USER: 'sys' PRIVILEGE : 'SYSDBA' CLIENT USER: 'SYSTEM' CLIENT TERMINAL: 'GKRSAMW' STATUS: '0' .
|Cause||The informational message is coming from the authentication manager internal database (Oracle); the RSA Authentication Manager Database Instance.|
|Resolution||This message, while informational only and not indicative of an actual error, places a lot of unnecessary chatter in the event log.|
The event log chatter, which is informational only, has been suppressed RSA Authentication Manager 7.1 Service Pack 4 Patch 1 or higher.
An interim solution would be to change the filters on the Windows Event Viewer. To disable "Information" events in an event log - right click on the event log file in question in question (Application, Security, System) and select "Properties" then the "Filter" tab. From here they can uncheck the "Information" event type.
A more permanent solution would be to plan for an upgrade of the RSA Authentication Manager 7.1 software to the latest software of RSA Authentication Manager 7.1 Service Pack 4 Patch 9 (as of Dec 2011). Please logon to RSA SecurCare Online to check if later service packs or patches are availalbe.
|Notes||RSA Authentication Manager Service Pack 2 added a new database Windows service (RSA Authentication Manager Database Instance) that would check the database status every minute, which produced this unnecessary chatter in the event viewer.|
