According to MicroSoft there is no unifying root cause or fix. Therefore there is no KB article on this.
IssueAuthentication Manager Server - Authentication services died because MicroSoft Windows Product Activation failed.
Authentication failures occurred when services were killed due to a MicroSoft failure. Error reported in the system application event log: Source Windows Product Activation "An error occurred while the wizard was checking the current
Windows product license. Error Code: 8: 0x800705af".

ResolutionRSA recommends no action be taken at this time since this is a one time occurrence and MicroSoft has no KB article describing this, or fix available. If found to be a recurring incident, fixes described in the link could be considered.
An RSA Engineering bug has been opened, id 41252. RSA Engineering will open a case with MicroSoft for tracking purposes.
