These error messagescan  occur whenever a client attempts to connect to the eservers SSL port using a clear bind.  The connection will fail, and the SSL handshake will be dropped.  This is has been noticed to occur when a load balancer is configured to simple TCP connection to the eserver (which is to determine that the system is up for failover or not).
IssueAxM 6.x: Remote host closed connection during handshake errors in eserver.log file

Error in eserver or lserver log file for eserver:

sequence_number=75652,remote_client=eserver,2009-07-13 17:48:24:258 GMT,messageID=-2,internal_error,description='Remote host closed connection during handshake',details='javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Remote host closed connection during handshake'

ResolutionUnder this circumstance, the error messages may be ignored and are completely benign.  There is a small overhead to the eserver due to the SSL binds, but this small overhead is extremely unlikely to be noticed in overall eserver utilization.
The content switch may be configured to check the eserver status using SNMP instead of doing a TCP bind.  The SNMP server uptime parameter will indicate that the eserver is up.
