Issue

appliance 3.0 sp2 replica install

apply replica package
apply replica package fails with Host <primary> failed to resolve to the IP <primary IP>
Host failed to resolve to the IP

Starting Pre-Install Checks

Verifying replica package

Verifying password

Verifying replica package location

Verifying replica host name

Error:

Host primary.name.com failed to resolve to the IP 10.0.0.1 IP 10.0.0.1 failed to resolve to the Host primary.name.com

CauseVerify that name resolution is 100% for primary and the new replica
Verify that hosts files are 100% on primary and the new replica
Resolution

Go to the replica, make a backup of the /etc/resolv.conf file, then edit it to remove any references to DNS servers. Do this so the replica is forced to recognize the hosts file for name resolution of the primary and itself. Reboot and then return to the replica Operations Console to apply the package again.

It should now pass the checks and successfully install. Restore the original resolv.conf file back after the replica is set up.
