IssueError: "Security Check Error 006-ASP 0177-Server CreateObject Failed-800401f3"
CauseWhen this error is displayed within the browser's RDP session, it is indicative of a corrupt installation of RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0.x.  Please note that while this error indicates the SecurID installtion is corrupt, the database is most likely healthy.
ResolutionThe only way to resolve this issue, is to back up your database(s), licenses and token seed records then restoring the appliance to factory default.

The appliance backs up critical and system files weekly in a file named backupCab1.cab.  Steps to restore the database using the backupCab1.cab are in the RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0 Guide on page 71.  To run an immediate backup,

  • Stop RSA services on the primary (Start > Programs > RSA Security > RSA Authentication Manager Control Panel > Stop All).
  • Run a database dump (Start > Programs > RSA Security > RSA Authentication Manager Database Tools > Dump), selecting to dump the server and log databases.
  • Navigate to C:\authmgr\data and copy the sdserv.dmp, sdlog.dmp and license files (license.rec, server.cer, server.key and sdti.cer) to a mapped network drive off of the appliance.

Documentation on restoring the appliance to factory default can be found in the RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0 Owner's Guide, beginning on page 70.
