IssueAn NTPD service error occurs whilst trying to synchronize Replica Time Source
CauseAn error message occurs whist trying to start the NTPD process on the Replica SecurID Appliance 3.0 even after seemingly successfully stopping NTPD service with command: 'ntpd service stop'

Command attempted is: 'ntpd service stop' followed by 'ntpd service start'

Resolution

Workaround is to stop repeat the process above.  On the second attempt the service should start successfully with no error.

# ntpd service stop

# ntpd service start

NotesThis has been known to occur when the NTP service you are starting has failed to get in contact with the NTP server due to some temporary connection problem (for example the NTP server was too busy to respond)
