Issue
  • Unable to sync an Authentication Manager replica after reverting the primary to an earlier snapshot.  This is the software functioning as designed.
  • At least one replica is attached to the primary.
  • When following the procedure below immediately after reverting the primary, the replica still shows as Out of Sync.

Procedure

  1. Login to the primary instance's Operations Console.
  2. Select Deployment Configuration > Instances > Status Report.
  3. For a replica instance with an Out of Sync status, click Sync.  Note: You can synchronize only one replica instance at a time.
CauseThere is a gap in the synchronization process between the time when the primary marks the replica as synchronizing and the time when the replica shuts down its services. This gap becomes larger in a slow virtual machine or slow network.  Since the replication services are running on the replica, it will continue to request updates from the primary for the future (because the primary went back in time) which will put this replica back to being out of sync.
ResolutionAs a workaround, wait 15 minutes then try the Sync option again.  This will be fixed in RSA Authentication Manager 8.0 Patch 1.
