RSA Version/Condition:  6.1
Issue
  • Troubleshooting authentication requests to the RSA Authentication Manager server
  • How to set tracing and debug variables
  • Hard drive full
  • File named acesynd.trace in the ACEDATA directory is very large (e. g., > 1GB)
CauseTracing has been left enabled.
ResolutionNOTE: Tracing logs do not have a maximum file size.  Manual maintenance of the .trace files is required to ensure that they do not grow too large. Tracing should be disabled as soon as troubleshooting has been completed. Simply remove the variables from System Variables and debug tracing will not start on the next reboot of Windows.

To remove the *.trace file(s) and ensure that they are not re-created:

  1. Stop the RSA services in the Windows Control Panel or RSA Control Panel (preferred)
  2. Delete the acesyncd.trace file(s) or move them off the machine.
  3. Remove the environment variables.
  4. Reboot the machine.
