IssueAttempting to enable the Oracle listener on an RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle hardware appliance via the user interface (Admin > System > Appliance tab), the Oracle listener fails with the following error:

script failed return code 1

CauseThe error occurs when the web user from the RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle user interface does not have permission to run the scripts that enable/disable the listener.
ResolutionThis error is resolved by granting permission to the web user in the sudoers file:
  1. Login as the root user.
  2. Run visudo from any directory.
  3. Add the following two lines in the same section of the file where the other ADMINS ALL=(root) commands are located:

ADMINS ALL=(root) NOPASSWD:/usr/bin/listenerstart.sh
ADMINS ALL=(root) NOPASSWD:/usr/bin/listenerstop.sh

  1. Save the file.
  2. Test the enable/disable functionality in the RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle user interface.
