IssueHow to upgrade RSA SecurID Software Token from version 3.0.x to 3.0.5
The "Readme.txt" file included with RSA SecurID Token for Windows Desktops 3.0.5 states "You do not need to uninstall Software Token 3.0.1, 3.0.2, 3.0.3, or 3.0.4 to upgrade to 3.0.5.". This is *not* correct; the installer will not upgrade to version 3.0.5. To upgrade to 3.0.5, the existing version *must* be uninstalled; the issue with this is that the token data or records would also be removed after the software is uninstalled, and would need to be issued with new token records.
ResolutionRSA Security has created a backup/restore utility to back up the token record prior to uninstalling RSA SecurID Software Token 3.0.x and reload back into 3.0.5. Contact RSA Security Customer Support to obtain this utility.

To use this utility, follow these steps:

1. Run the backup/restore utility while the existing version of RSA Software token is present

2. Click "Backup" - a backup of the token record database and key is created in c:\temp\softwaretokens.dbb (c:\temp must exists - if it does not, create the folder)

3. After the backup database has been created, uninstall RSA SecurID Software Token and install the newer version 3.0.5

4. Run the back/restore utility and click "Restore" to load the token record database back in the new version
