IssueIssue with certificates on SID800 when using RSA Middleware

Customer reports that SID800 certificates are 'missing'. They are currently using Middleware 3.0.1, but may have used Middleware 3.0 in the past.

Cause

A bug in RSA Smart Card Middleware 3.0 incorrectly created the pointers used to reference certificate records. RSA Smart Card Middleware 3.0.1 now creates and manages pointers the correct way, but as a result it cannot read certificate records with the incorrect pointers.

Resolution

The certificates are fine, but the pointers need to be repaired. Using the card conversion utility, the SID800 token needs to be 'downgraded' to the older 2.x format and then 'upgraded' to the current 3.x format. This action repairs the pointers makig the certificate accessible with the RSA Smart Card Middleware 3.0.1 software.

A utility is available to determine the format of a SID800. Contact RSA Customer Support for this utility.
