CauseThis error appears because the version.txt file in the ace/prog folder has the wrong permissions, the file is missing, or the file is corrupt
ResolutionTo correct this issue, perform the following steps:

1. Verify that the file permissions are at a minimum of 440:

# ls -al version.txt
-r--r----- 1 root other 55 Aug 13 11:26 version.txt

If the permissions are not correct, change them as follows:

cd ace/prog

chmod 440 version.txt

2. Verify that the file is not corrupt, and that the file contents are similar to the following:

# cat version.txt

RSA ACE/Server 6.0.2.053 Mon May 2 15:39:17 EDT 2005

3. Verify that the file exists in the ace/prog directory. If the file is missing, it can be restored from a backup or copied from ace/data.
