Issue

Error: "Invalid Server Address" appears intermittently in log file for RSA ClearTrust Agent 4.6 for Apache 2.0 for Solaris

IP address received in request shows 0.0.0.0

[1] - <Critical> - Invalid server address

CauseThis error is seen in the ./logs/ct_agent.log for the Apache agent when the listen directive in the Apache2 httpd.conf file has not been configured.  The error occurs just after startup after the configuration data has been reported into the log file
Resolution

This is a Solaris-specific Apache issue; on Solaris, you must configure the 'Listen' directive of Apache in the httpd.conf file as follows:

Listen IP:PORT

Where IP is a single IP address of the system (for example 192.168.0.45) and PORT is the TCP port the web server will listen on (by default this is usually set to 80), for example:

Listen 192.168.0.45:80

By default, Apache sets the Listen directive as Listen 80. Not mentioning the IP address in the 'Listen' directive leads Apache2 to bind to all bound IP addresses as suggested in the following httpd.conf comments:

# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
#
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to

# prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses (0.0.0.0)
#
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80

For full details see the Apache2 documentation available online at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/mpm_common.html#listen
