|Applies To||RSA SecurID Software Token|
RSA ACE/Server 5.2
RSA Authentication Manager 6.0
|Issue||Error: "Token import failed. Error in tkn library, length argument out of range." while trying to import a token into RSA Software Token|
|Cause||The software token was issued to an ACE/Server user whose "first name" or "last name" contained a space character. RSA Software Token has a limitation of 24 characters in the First Name or Last Name fields( First name + Last name = should not exceed 24). When a software token is issued from ACE/Server, the First Name/Last Name fields are separated by a space. When utilizing spaces in the First Name or Last Name fields, this can confuse the Name separator and make a First Name entry exceed the 24-character limit. For example:|
First name: Lee Charlie Last name: Chaplin Junior (Note the space)
First Name: Associates in Last name: Orthopaedics
In this example, the software token would consider the first name to be "Associates in Orthopaedics", thus exceeding the 24-character limit and causing the error length argument out of range.
|Resolution||This is a known problem with user names with space, and will be addressed in future ACE/Server versions.|
As a workaround, change the user name of the ACE user fields to remove the space, then reissue the software token.
