IssueError: "Warning: root user does not belong to the root group"
CauseThis is purely a cosmetic error and can be ignored. When the installer runs the "install.sh" script, part of the script checks what the current users group is set to (by reading data back from the 'id' command). By default, the value returned for the 'root' user will be 'other' and not 'root'.
ResolutionA default Solaris 2.8 system will have root as a member of 'root' but during login will set the real and effective GID value to 'other' (i.e. the value found in /etc/passwd). To switch the 'root' user to the 'root' group for the current session, use the newgrp command  (see Solaris MAN pages for more details), for example:

#  id
uid=0(root) GID=1(other)
# newgrp root
# id
uid=0(root) GID=0(root)

If you run the install.sh script with these setting the error message will not be displayed.  Do not forget, that to return to your original settings just type "exit", for example (carrying on for the example above:

# id
uid=0(root) GID=0(root)
#  exit
# id
uid=0(root) GID=1(other)
