How to configure multi-layered networks
Resolution

The ipaddr.tab file can be configured to define internal network address space. However, in a multi-layered network, an IP address that is local to one network device, may be foreign to another device.

As a result, the local and foreign addresses may appear switched, or incorrect.

For multi-layered networks, use the multi-device ipaddr.tab functionality. Instead of defining one ipaddr.tab file for all devices, individual IP addresses are defined for individual monitored network devices. In this manner, an event from a specific device is passed over the ipaddr.tab file defined for that particular device.

For instructions on setting up the multi-device ipaddr.tab file, please refer to the enVision online help.
