Issue | How to install RSA ACE/Agent 4.4 for Windows on same machine as RSA ACE/Server RADIUS Error: "Node verification failed" in ACE/Server logs |
Cause | The ACE/Agent for Windows NT 4.4 stores the node secret in the NT Registry while the ACE/Server RADIUS component looks for a securid file in the winnt\system32 directory. |
Resolution | Remove the aceclnt.dll from the ace\prog directory or replace that file with the one installed by the v4.4 agent in system32. To check the version of this file, right click on the file in Windows Explorer, and select the Version tab and highlight Product Version. If the value is "4.1 [INTERNAL]", then the aceclnt.dll is the one distributed with ACE/Server 3.3, 4.0 and 4.1. This version will read the sdconf.rec file in ace\data and the securid file in winnt\system32. If the value is "4.4 [019]", then the aceclnt.dll is the one distributed with ACE/Agent v4.4 for Windows NT. If the ACE/Agent v4.4 for Windows NT is installed on the system, all versions of aceclnt.dll must be that version so that the node secret is stored in a consistent manner. If a securid (node secret) file was present in winnt\system32 when the ACE/Agent v4.4 for Windows NT was being installed, the information in the file was migrated to the Windows NT Registry and the original securid file was deleted. Go to the RSA ACE/Agent Control Panel Applet to clear the node secret if required. Do not remove the ACE/Agent 4.4 for Windows NT once it is installed on the ACE/Server because the ACE/Server is now dependent on the Agent in order for RADIUS to work. |
