RSA Authentication Manager
|Issue||How to start RSA Authentication Manager and RSA ACE/Server as Local System account|
|Cause||RSA Authentication Manager must log on as Local System account|
|Resolution||RSA Security does not support configuring RSA Authentication Manager and RSA ACE/Server services to any account other than the Local System account.|
1. RSA Authentication Manager configures environment settings during its installation and these are required for it to run correctly. Services that run under the Local System account inherit their environment from the Services.exe process. The Services.exe process receives the environment settings for the Local System account when Windows starts. For more information, visit Microsoft's web site at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;821761.
2. Running a service as Local System ensures that the password for this account is never exposed (and cannot be compromised), and that the password for this account is exempt from forced password changes due to global policy settings. Further information on running services as Local System should be addressed to Microsoft.
