This topic provides instructions on how to import charts containing subgroups and charts from other instances of Security Analytics into Chart Groups Panel. Charts must be in a valid binary file that was exported from another Security Analytics instance.

During the import process, you select the binary file, and specify whether or not existing charts with the same name should be overwritten by charts contained in the binary import file.

  • If you choose to overwrite, all duplicate rules, lists, and charts are overwritten by the contents of the binary import file.
  • If you choose not to overwrite, and a duplicate rule, list, or chart exists in the target folder, the import will still happen and no message about duplicate charts is displayed.

Prerequisites

Make sure you have charts or chart groups exported from other instances of Security Analytics.

Procedure

Perform the following steps to import charts from other instances of Security Analytics:

  1. In the Security Analytics menu, click Administration > Reports.
    The Manage tab is displayed.
  2. Click Charts.
    The Chart view is displayed.
  3. From the Chart Groups panel, select a folder to import the file.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • In the Chart Groups panel, click  list_options_button.png > Import.
    • In the Chart toolbar, click report_list_options.png > Import.
The Import Chart dialog box is displayed. You can import multiple charts and chart groups at a time. To select multiple charts or chart groups, press and hold the CTRL button and select the charts or chart groups to be imported.
  5. Click Browse to select the binary file.
Security Analytics provides a file system view of the files.
  6. Locate the binary file and click Open.
The file is added to the Import Chart list.
  7. (Optional) To overwrite any existing rule in the library with an identically named rule in the binary file when importing, check the Rule checkbox. If you do not select the Overwrite option, and an identical rule is encountered in the binary file, the binary file is imported and no error message is displayed.
  8. (Optional) To overwrite any existing list in the library with an identically named list in the binary file, check the List checkbox. If you do not select the Overwrite option, and an identical list is encountered in the binary file, the binary file is imported and no error message is displayed.
  9. (Optional) To overwrite any existing chart in the library with an identically named chart in the binary file when importing, check the Chart checkbox. If you do not select the Overwrite option and an identical chart is encountered in the binary file, the binary file is imported and no error message is displayed.
  10. Click Import to import the binary file.
