IssueWe have several processes in the system that use intermediate tables for processing (Collections, Review Generation, Rule Processing, etc). It has been seen that the performance of these processes can significantly degrade if statistics have been gathered on these tables, either in the current run or in previous runs. We need to make sure that there are no statistics on these tables, and to allow Oracle to use dynamic sampling prior to executing an SQL statement involving them.

Resolution

To disable run the following PL/SQL as SYS or SYSTEM in the database:

BEGIN
dbms_auto_task_admin.disable(
client_name => 'auto optimizer stats collection',
operation => NULL,
window_name => NULL);
END;
/
NotesWe are working to prevent this issue on tables we discover have problems with automated statistics, however we have not completely identified all the problem tables at this time.
