Overview

This topic tells you how to create and maintain DSNs for ODBC Collection.

Context

Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) event sources require Data Source Names (DSNs) so you need to define DSNs with their associate value pairs for ODBC event source configuration.

After completing this procedure, you will have..

  • Added a DSN template.
  • Added a DSN.
  • Edited a DSN.

Add a DSN Template

You can add DSN templates to use it the next time you add a DSN.

To add a DSN template:

  1. In the Security Analytics menu, select Administration > Services.
  2. In the Services grid, select a Log Collector service.
  3. Click Actions menu cropped under Actions and select View > Config.
  4. In the Log Collector Event Sources tab, select ODBC/DSNs  from the drop-down menu.
    The DSNs panel is displayed with the DSNs that are added, if any.
  5. Click ManageDSNTemplates.png
    The Manage DSN Templates dialog is displayed.

Note: RSA provides default templates on the left side panel that you can use while adding a new DSN.

  1. Click Icon-Add.png.
    The right panel is activated.
  2. Specify a template name and click Icon-Add.png on the right panel to add parameters.
  3. Specify the parameters. Click Save.

    The new DSN template is added in the Manage DSN Templates list.

Add a DSN

  1. In the Security Analytics menu, select Administration > Services.
  2. In the Services grid, select a Log Collector service.
  3. Click Actions menu cropped under Actions and select View > Config.
  4. In the Log Collector Event Sources tab, select ODBC/DSNs from the drop-down menus.
    The DSNs panel is displayed with the DSNs that are added, if any.
  5. Click Icon-Add.png.
    • Using the DSN Template
      1. Select a DSN template from the drop down in DSN Template field.
        The default parameters are displayed.

      2. Specify a name in the DSN Name field,
      3. Add, delete or edit the default parameters and click Save.The newly added DSN and its name-value pairs are displayed in the DSNs panel.
    • Adding Parameters Manually
      1. Specify a name in the DSN Name field.
      2. Click Icon-Add.png to add parameters.

      3. Specify the value pairs in the dialog and click Save.
        The newly added DSN and its name-value pairs are displayed in the DSNs panel.
  6. The Add DSN dialog is displayed.

    You can add a DSN in two ways:

Edit a DSN

  1. In the Security Analytics menu, select Administration > Services.
  2. In the Services grid, select a Log Collector service.
  3. Click Actions menu cropped under Actions and select View > Config.
  4. In the Log Collector Event Sources tab, select ODBC/DSNs from the drop-down menus.
    The DSNs panel is displayed with the DSNs that are added, if any
  5. Select a DSN.
  6. Click icon-edit.png.
    The Edit DSN dialog is displayed.
  7. Modify the parameters that require changes and click Save.

    The modified name-value pairs are displayed in the DSNs panel.
