The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) provides the world’s largest member association representing the accounting profession. The organization includes 431,000+ members in 130 countries and territories, representing many areas of practice, including business and industry, public practice, government, education and consulting.

The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) was incorporated via an Act of the Parliament of Canada in 1902, which later became known as the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Act. In 2011 CICA merged to form the Chartered Professional Accounts of Canada (CPA Canada). CPA Canada works cooperatively with the provincial and territorial CPA bodies who are charged with regulating the profession.

Created by the American Institute of CPAs and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants with help from ISACA, the Privacy Maturity Model is based on Generally Accepted Privacy Principles (GAPP) and aims to assist organizations in strengthening their privacy policies, procedures and practices.
