ITIL provides a consistent and comprehensive documentation of best practice for IT Service Management. Used by organizations around the world, ITIL consists of a series of books giving guidance on the provision of quality IT services, and on the accommodation and environmental facilities needed to support IT. ITIL has been developed in recognition of organizations' growing dependency on IT and embodies best practices for IT Service Management.

 

The Authoritative Source includes the five texts of the ITIL version 3 series. Requirements, practices, concepts or topics are paraphrased from the texts. The topics are organized as:

  • Continual Service Improvement: This content includes the guidelines for the ITIL Continual Service Improvement stage of the ITIL Service Lifecycle.
  • Service Design: This content includes the guidelines for the ITIL Service Design stage of the ITIL Service Lifecycle.
  • Service Operations: This content includes the guidelines for the ITIL Service Operations stage of the ITIL Service Lifecycle.
  • Service Strategy: This content includes the guidelines for the ITIL Service Strategy stage of the ITIL Service Lifecycle.
  • Service Transition: This content includes the guidelines for the ITIL Service Transition stage of the ITIL Service Lifecycle.
