Issue
This article provides steps on uploading a new license to an existing Authentication Manager deployment.

Authentication Manager licenses are stackable, as long as the license numbers are the same between the old license number and new license number.

Resolution

Resolution

Before applying the new license

  1. Log in to the Authentication Manager primary server Security Console as a Super Admin user.
  2. Navigate to Setup > License > Status and click View Installed Licenses.
  3. Click the context arrow next to the License ID number and select View.
  4. Compare the license serial number shown in the Security Console with the license number in the license.xml file you received, specifically the license:customerAccountId value.

If the license numbers match, the new license can be installed immediately. Authentication Manager licenses are stackable, and the new license will be added on top of the existing license.

If the license numbers are the same

  1. In the Security Console, navigate to Setup > License > Add New.
  2. Browse to the directory containing the new license.xml file and select it.
  3. Click Next and verify that the displayed license information is correct.
  4. Click Install.

If the license numbers are different

Review article 000046582 - The License serial number being installed doesn't match the license serial number stored on the server when installing an RSA Authentication Manager license  before continuing.

Verification

After installing the new license:

  1. Navigate to Setup > License > Status.
  2. Click View Installed Licenses.
  3. Confirm the following:
    • The newly installed license appears in the list.
    • The license capacity reflects the updated total.
    • No license-related warnings or errors are displayed.
  4. Optionally, verify that users can continue authenticating successfully without any licensing errors appearing in the Security Console logs or system monitoring alerts.
