We are pleased to announce the availability of the new RSA SecurID Hardware Appliance A450R2, which replaces the previous A450 appliance model.
Built on the same Dell PowerEdge R660xs platform as its predecessor, A450R2 is introduced to address ongoing NAND and memory supply constraints across the server hardware industry. This updated appliance ensures the continued availability of fully supported FIPS-compliant systems for our customers.
To maintain long-term platform stability and supply continuity, the A450R2 incorporates an upgraded processor architecture and transitions to a higher-capacity FIPS-certified mechanical storage solution.
Hardware Specification Comparison
| Feature | A450 (Previous Model) | A450R2 (New Model) |
| CPU | Intel Xeon Silver 4410 | Intel Xeon Silver 4416 |
| Cores / Threads | 12 Cores / 24 Threads | 20 Cores / 40 Threads |
| Storage Type | 1.6TB SED FIPS SSD | 2.4TB FIPS HDD |
| Memory | 32 GB | 32 GB |
Storage Architecture Update
The transition from SSD-based storage to mechanical storage was necessary because a compatible FIPS-certified SSD is no longer available for this hardware platform. Adopting a FIPS-certified HDD solution enables RSA to:
- Preserve FIPS compliance
- Maintain long-term hardware availability
- Ensure supply continuity
- Deliver a consistent customer experience without impacting supported functionality or intended use cases
Support and Compliance
The A450R2 is fully supported and is designed to provide customers with a seamless transition from the previous A450 appliance.
There are no changes to the existing compliance or regulatory requirements. All compliance certifications and regulatory documentation applicable to the A450 appliance continue to apply to the A450R2 model.
