Tableau - SAML Relying Party Configuration - RSA Ready Implementation Guide

This article describes how to integrate RSA with Tableau using SAML Relying Party.

Configure RSA Cloud Authentication Service

Perform these steps to configure RSA Cloud Authentication Service as Relying Party to Tableau.
Procedure

  1. Sign in to RSA Cloud Administration Console. 
  2. Navigate to the Authentication Clients menu and click Relying Parties.                                                                                                           image.png
  3. Click Add a Relying Party.      
  4. On the Relying Party Catalog page, click Add corresponding to Service Provider SAML.                                                                        image.png
  5. On the Basic Information page, enter the name for the application in the Name field and click Next Step.                                                 image.png
  6. On the Authentication page, choose SecurID manages all authentication.
  7. Select a Primary Authentication Method and Access Policy as required and click Next Step.                                                                  image.png
  8. For providing Service Provider details:
    1. Click Import Metadata and click Choose File. 
    2. Select the file that is downloaded from the Service Provider.
      See the Configure Tableau section for the instructions on how to obtain Tableau metadata.                                                              image.png
  9. Review the ACS URL and Service Provider Entity ID values that are auto-filled.                                                                                          image.png
  10. In the SAML Response Protection section, choose IdP signs assertion within response.
  11. Download the certificate by clicking Download Certificate.                                                                                                                           image.png
  12. Click Show Advanced Configuration.
  13.  Under the User Identity section, configure Identifier Type and Property. For example, Identifier Type: emailAddress and Property: mail.                                                                                                                                                   image.png
  14. Click Save and Finish.
  15. On the My Relying Parties page, click the Edit drop-down list and select the Metadata option to download the metadata.                          image.png
  16. Click Publish Changes. Your application is now enabled for SSO.                                                                                                                image.png image.png

Notes

In RSA, under the Encrypt Assertion section, clear the checkbox. This field is automatically populated during the Tableau metadata import. Tableau SAML SSO integration may not work if encryption is enabled.

Configure Tableau

Perform these steps to configure Tableau.
Procedure

  1. Sign in to Tableau as Site Administrator creator - https://sso.online.tableau.com.
  2. Navigate to the settings page by clicking the gear icon.                                                                                                                               image.png
  3. Click Authentication and select the Enable an additional authentication method checkbox.                                                                     image.png
  4. Select Authentication type as SAML.                                                                                                                                                             image.png
  5. Click Export metadata.                                                                                                                                                                                     image.png
  6. Click Choose a file and upload the metadata file downloaded from RSA.                                                                                                      image.png
  7. Click Save Changes.                                                                                                                                                                                        image.png
  8. Navigate to the Site Users page, click the ellipsis button, and select Authentication for the users you wish to enable Single Sign-on.   image.png
  9. Select securid.com (SAML) and click Update.                                                                                                                                            image.png

The configuration is complete.
