Workflow email nodes do not generate emails in Identity Governance and Lifecycle when the message body is blank

Issue
When an email node is executed within a workflow, the email may not be sent and the logs record a message similar to the following:
  
02/12/2018 14:49:23.797 ERROR (Worker_actionq#Script Queue - Normal#WPDS_293) [com.aveksa.server.workflow.scripts.nodes.SendEmailThread] Couldn't Send Email to due to: 
java.lang.NullPointerException

 
Cause
This can occur when any part of the email template is left blank, including the message body.
Resolution
Ensure that the email template message body is populated. This may also occur if other required fields such as subject are left blank.
