Identity Router Virtual Appliance Hardware and Software Requirements for On-Premises Deployments
If you deploy the identity router as an on-premises virtual appliance using VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V, your virtualization environment must meet the minimum software and hardware requirements for successful deployment.
For identity routers deployed in the Amazon cloud, see Amazon Web Services Identity Router Deployment Requirements.
Virtual Appliance Hardware Requirements
Hardware requirements vary for each deployment. Consult with RSA to determine which hardware profile to use. The identity router image provided by RSA specifies the standard profile by default.
| Hardware Component | Standard Profile (Image Default) | High Capacity Profile (if recommended by RSA) |
|---|---|---|
| Disk space | 54 GB | 54 GB |
| Memory | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Virtual CPUs | 4 | 4 |
| Network interface for VMware | One E1000 virtual network adapter * | One E1000 virtual network adapter* |
| Network interface for Microsoft Hyper-V | One synthetic network adapter* | One synthetic network adapter* |
* Two network adaptors are recommended if using the IDR SSO Agent with an on-premises identity router. If your deployment requires only one network interface, you must delete one.
For VMware deployments with two network interfaces, the identity router supports only the two E1000 virtual network adapters defined in the image. Do not change the default network adapter or add a new virtual network adapter to the virtual appliance.
VMware Software Requirements
You can install the virtual appliance using a VMware administration client such as vSphere, by either connecting to the VMware vCenter Server, or connecting directly to the VMware ESXi host. VMware vCenter Server is not required to deploy the identity router. For VMware host hardware requirements, see the VMware documentation.
| Software Component | Supported Versions |
|---|---|
| VMware Platform | VMware ESXi 5.5 to the latest (currently 8.x series) |
| VMware vSphere Client | Any version that works with the supported ESXi deployments |
See VMware Product Interoperability Matrices for a list of supported vCenter versions.
Hyper-V Software Requirements
RSA supports Windows Hyper-V 2012 R2 and 2016. See Virtual Appliance Hardware Requirements for the Hyper-V hardware requirements. See Microsoft documentation for additional hardware requirements.
Identity Router for Hyper-V on Azure
RSA supports Identity Router for Hyper-V on Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 deployed on Azure. See Microsoft documentation for deploying Windows server on Azure and enabling Hyper-V.
Note: RSA also supports Identity Router for Hyper-V on Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 deployed on other platforms.
