This presentation provides an overview of the new user experience features available in RSA Archer Release 6.7 that was presented at the November 15, 2019 Free Friday Tech Huddle.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS DURING THE SESSION:
Q: Why is the header bar text being restricted to 30 characters? I was hoping to use this to tell users about upcoming outages. is there any other place to put a message to users?
A: The limit of 30 characters is being placed on dashboard header and quick links. We have not applied a character limit on header bar in this release, we plan to place a limit of 100 characters in a subsequent release.
Q: Are both "Logo" and "Secondary" graphics now moved to the top?
A: Primary Logo has moved to the Global Header. Secondary graphic is still in the footer but we renamed it from “Secondary” to “Footer” in the Appearance Admin Menu.
Q: The username in top right, can you say again how that's changing? Is it username now, or something else? And can we control what's displayed or is Archer setting it?
A: The header displays the username. This was changed from first name due to issues where usage of the first name creates cultural complications.
Q: Can you please explain the flex workspace?
A: In short, the Flex workspace replace the “Show All” menu which caused a lot of customer confusion. The Flex workspace allows a user to place a “flexible” Workspace in the Main Navigation row and has the ability to quickly change it.
Q: That overflow drop-down has increased the number of clicks. One click for putting the item in the flex workspace and one more click for viewing the dashboard or related applications.
A: We wanted to balance information overload with number of clicks. You are able configure what you see in the navigation with the spaces that are most important. The overflow and flex space allows us to balance cognitive overload.
Q: Does workspace display still respect the display settings set in the workspace config (i.e. Required). All of the check boxes make it seem that all were optional.
A: Yes, there is no change in that functionality.
Q: I'm confused about the flex menu. When does it show overflow workspaces vs. the applications in the selected workspace?
A: When the space for the Workspaces is near the max, the Flex icon appears. It reserves the space for a flexible workspace.
Q: In workspace menu, can the order of applications still be customized?
A: Yes it can be customized.
Q: Is there no way to change the color of the system buttons, left nav menu arrows, etc.?
A: No, these have been made consistent across RSA Archer and the color cannot be changed.
Q: On the non-Advanced Workflow Record page, where is edit and view now?
A: It is on the top-left of the record page, this is similar to what we have on AWF enabled record page.
Q: The existing workspace menu allows users to select any of the available dashboards, does the new menu force you to load the default dashboard and then change to another one?
A: Yes, that will be the expected behavior.
Q: Are all Advanced Workflow buttons now hidden within the Actions drop down feature?
A: Yes, all workflow actions appear be under the 'Actions' drop down.
Q: Was the "text" at the bottom of appearances where we can put in maintenance notices?
A: The “Text” at the bottom of appearances is around the how the labels and controls are positioned on the screen.
Q: Is the save and save and close control changed from botton? Will it have impact of executing "Save" and "save and close" button hijacked custom code?
A: You'll want to verify these custom objects against the new buttons. Depending on how you were hijacking the button, the targeted properties may have changed.
Q: With Copy record button not on layout now does that break custom objectss currently used to hide the button?
A: Yes, these custom objects will most likely break as the button how has a new location within the DOM, and potentially new IDs, Classes, etc that were being targeted to hide it.
Q: For the Advanced Workflow history/progress tracker, how is that information populated? Are those button names or layout names?
A: Those are user action node names on the history tracker.
Q: Will the custom objects be "fixable" on our side, or are we out of luck? We use custom objects heavily to selectively enable and disable these buttons.
A: Yes, they should be able to be updated. They are still just HTML elements within the DOM. You'll have to adjust your custom object to leverage the new IDs, classes, etc depending on how they were written.
Q: Is it possible to deactivate or hide bottom dark bar with version of Archer? Since logo moved to the top, bottom dark bar is useless and only takes space.
A: Sorry, not at this time.
Q: Can one change the font size of the quick links?
A: No, not at this time.
Q: Can the Landing page iview links go to dashboards?
A: Yes. Landing page iView links to dashboards just as any other iView. Doing so will allow user to user it a default home page for first line of defense user.
Q: Can you setup a default landing page based on group/role?
A: Yes, you can do that.
Q: Will we still be able to set a custom home page per user or group?
A: There is no change in functionality for setting a customer home page. Ability to use landing page iView as the default home page is a new addition.
