Please note the below points as per your question :
- In order to upgrade to 6.7 P1 you need to first below path : 6.5 P4 to 6.7 to 6.7 P1
- Since 6.7 is a major version change/upgrade thats the reason you need to upgrade to that first
- "releases are cumulative" -> this means that all newer versions/patches contain fixes the bugs reported in the older version to that
- Additional example : if you are on any version and you want to upgrade to latest patch (like 6.5 P4 to 6.5 P6 etc ) like you need to upgrade to minor patches you can go the highest/latest patch anytime
I am pretty sure, I went from 6.5 even 5.5 to 6.7 P1 directly with no current issues. But surely, we may need to confirm that too on possible issues.
As Ilya stated, you can upgrade without the intermediary step of 6.7 upgrade. Our releases are cumulative, so there is generally no need to do multiple upgrades. There have, on occasion, been times where we've made changes substantial enough to require an upgrade path, but that is always clearly stated.
Can you let me know who from Support provided the above response so I can go back and coach them please?
