Archer 6.1 Task Driven Screen
I have a general question regarding the Task-Driven Screen Homepage of eGRC Archer 6.1; can the homepage be set-up for end users? I would like for our end users to see the dashboards that we create for them.
I have the same question regarding the Workspace Display, can we set default Workspace Display according to certain roles within Archer? All help on this matter is greatly appreciated.
Short answer, yes you can. The default landing screen can be specified either by user, group membership, or role membership. If they have preferences set at all three levels, I believe the hierarchy of preference then becomes User > Role > Group.
We just installed version 6.2 in our DEV environment. Even though we set up a test user's role and groups to use a dashboard and specified the dashboard they should see, the user still gets taken to the task-driven landing page. The only way to resolve it was to go to the test user's account and set it there to use a dashboard. Since we have thousands of user accounts, it's not feasible to change this setting for all users. Additionally, we want any new user accounts to be taken to the dashboard instead of the task-driven landing page.
Has anyone else had this issue and found a resolution? I have been working with Archer Support but they have not been able to provide us with a solution yet.
We had a kindasorta similar issue and we found that if the user's role doesn't grant them "update" to their user profile info then the home page setting wouldn't save. We observed that the db was simply not being updated, even though there was no visual indicator to the user that they couldn't save this option. I'm not sure why it's considered a profile setting rather than a "preference" (i.e. in 5.5, they were able to save workspace preferences even without update to their profile info.) I think this is a risk because a user could change their email address in their profile and then a notification could get sent to an undesired recipient, potentially exposing confidential information.
I'm not sure that this is relevant to your situation since you're setting it at a role/group level, but maybe worth checking out.
