Considerations when upgrading Archer from 5.4 to 6.2
We are currently using Archer 5.4 but are looking to upgrade to 6.2 Two questions:
- Is that a viable upgrade path, or do we need to go to some intermediate version first?
- Is there any documentation or advice on things to look for when testing backwards compatibility? For example, do DDEs and datafeeds established in 5.4 work in 6.2?
Yes, this is a viable upgrade path with no need to stop at an intermediary version of 5.x on your way.
There is loads of documentation attached to the https://community.rsa.com/community/products/archer-grc/archer-customer-partner-community/platform/62 product space. That's a great starting point.
We recently upgrade from v5.5 to v6.2 and followed all of the documentation referenced in the product space page that Scott mentioned.
We are a pretty straight forward implementation in only using core functionality (no custom objects or API integrations) and did not experience any issues related to DDEs or Datafeeds as a result of the upgrade, just as Archer had planned. Of course, that in no way absolved us from doing our own extensive testing, which included both technical validation (counts, system configs, and application configs) as well as business user acceptance testing.(business rules and DDE workflows).
